Ron Powell of the Lincoln Journal-Star reported over the weekend that one of the top juniors in the state – Maddy Bruder of Norris – will miss the entire 2013 high school season.
Bruder, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, is a lock for the Super 25 for the class of 2015. Coming into the season, Norris was considered one of the top teams in Class B.
According to the Lincoln Journal Star, Bruder had surgery to repair a torn labrum earlier this summer. Athletes are generally sidelined a minimum of three months after surgery to repair a torn labrum, which is the ring of cartilage that surrounds the socket of a shoulder joint. In extreme cases, recovery can last a full year.
