Northwest Rises to #47 in Nation, Waverly Rated #86

According to national high school volleyball website PrepVolleyball.com, Grand Island Northwest now ranks among the top 50 teams in the nation.
Northwest, 24-0 and ranked #1 in Class B, shot up the rankings from #67 to #47. Also joining Northwest in the national rankings with week is another of the hottest teams in the state - Waverly.
Waverly, 23-3 and winners of 15 straight, enter the national rankings at #86.
Lincoln Pius X, ranked #2 in Class B, dropped from the national rankings after being #95 last week. The Thunderbolts, 25-3, dropped a match to Class A #2 Lincoln Southwest last weekend.
Millard West, the top-ranked team in Class A, also dropped from the national rankings. The Wildcats were #70 last week but suffered a five-set loss to Class A #9 Millard North on Monday.
The top five teams in the nation according to the standings are:
1. <b>Mercy Academy</b> (Louisville, Kentucky)
Current record: 29-0.
2. <strong>St. James </strong>(Lenexa, Kansas)
Current record: 29-0.
3. <b>Torrey Pines </b>(San Diego, California) <b>
</b>Current record: 14-0.
4.<b> The Woodlands </b>(Texas)
Current record: 32-0.
5. <b>Kamehameha </b>(Honolulu, Hawaii) Iolani
Current record: 26-1.
