Wickey/Knight, Bressman/Stromberg win Nebraska Elite Beach Championships
GRETNA – The duo of Megan Wickey and Ashley Knight ended the summer sand volleyball season in Nebraska by winning the 18U title at the Nebraska Elite Beach Championships at Spikers in Gretna.
Wickey, an Ohio State recruit from Omaha Concordia, and Knight, a Villanova recruit from Elkhorn South, defeated the team of Gretna’s Halie McArdle and Omaha Marian’s Maren McGuire in the championship.
At the USA Junior Beach National Championship in Milwaukee at the end of July, the team of Wickey and Knight finished tied for 5th in the 18 Open division.
To reach the championship, Wickey and Knight defeated the team of Hruby and Bruder while McArdle and McGuire defeated the team of Knust and Stephens.
In the 14U division at the Nebraska Elite Beach Championships, the team of Emily Bressman and Kennedy Stromberg won the championship match over the duo of Peyton Hall and Julianna Kalil.
At the USAV Junior Beach National Championships in Milwaukee, the team of Bressman and Stromberg finished 31st in the 14 Open division.
In the semifinals in Gretna today, Bressman and Stromberg defeated the team of Flores and Prusha while Hall and Kalil beat the team of Neely and Bay.
Below are the final results for the 18U and 14U Gold brackets from the tournament. A combined total of 37 teams competed in the two divisions of the tournament.
