LINCOLN – Lincoln Southeast capped a perfect 6-0 weekend with a 25-14, 22-25, 25-21 win over Omaha Marian in the championship of the Lincoln Northeast Invitational on Saturday.
It was the fourth meeting between the two teams, with each team now having two wins against the other. Following the match, both teams stand at 20-4 on the season.
Southeast was playing without senior outside hitter and Nebraska-Omaha recruit Meagan Roth who suffered an ankle injury earlier in the tournament. Senior Tyra Douglas stepped up to fill the void in the championship match, pounding a team-high 12 kills. Greta Solomon added six kills for the Knights while Zoe Prenda had five and 6-foot-1 junior Nerissa Moravec added four kills and five blocks.
Lizzie Saale had 17 digs for Southeast and Carly Sheppard added 16.
For Omaha Marian, junior Elizabeth Loschen had a match-high 13 kills while fellow juniors Sophia Terwilleger added nine and Hannah Mueller had eight. Brittany Witt had a match-high 24 digs for the Crusaders and Andi Hanus added 13.
Papillion-LaVista South defeated Lincoln Pius X 25-16, 25-22 in the third-place match while North Platte beat Elkhorn South 27-25, 25-17 in the fifth-place match. In the seventh-place match, Millard South defeated Omaha Westside 25-16, 25-19.
