The Badgers have in-state recruits in Mariah Whalen and Nicole Shanahan from 2017 and some upcoming verbal commits from in-state recruits in 2019 in Dru Kuck and Liz Gregorski, we’ll see if there will be a late signing period walk on for the Badgers from the Class of 2019.
Marquette
The Golden Eagles have a ton of power on the pin they have picked up from their backyard with Allie Barber of Cedarburg, Madeline Mosher of Waterloo, and Hope Werch of Neenah. This year they are adding setter Claire Mosher (Waterloo – Milwaukee Sting), younger sister of Madeline, as well as Katie Shoessow (Mukwanago – Milwaukee Sting) as libero. Both of these commits have played for successful high school programs and high
level club with Milwaukee Sting. Claire Moshier set for Milwaukee Sting 18 Gold when they finished at USAV Open in 2016 with Barber and her older sister, Madeline. Shoessow will add depth to their defense to a team that has no Seniors this season.
Coach Sean Burdette has taken the Phoenix to be one of the top contenders in the Horizon League, falling one match short of the NCAA tournament in the 2016 season. From the Class of 2018, they will be getting two, top 30 in-state recruits in Kaitlyn Gehler (Lakeside Lutheran – Capital VB Academy) and Alexis Dorner (Luxemburg-Casco – Wisconsin Volleyball Academy). Gehler will be a gritty, scrappy defender coming in as one of the top defensive players in the state, while Dorner came on late in last year’s club season for WVA 18 Black as a Right Side/Middle being very explosive off one foot. The two are no strangers to each other. Gehler recently won the WIAA Division 2 state title over Dorner’s Luxemburg-Casco team in five sets.
UW-Milwaukee
Despite some recent struggles the Panthers have faced the past couple of seasons, they have been able to fill their roster with lots of in state talent. The Class of 2018 will be no different with three top 20 recruits. Rylie Vaughn (Newman Catholic (Wausau) – Milwaukee Sting) will be coming in as setter, Abby Koenen (Burlington – Milwaukee Sting) is an athletic and long outside hitter, and Jessica Grabowski (Greendale – Wisconsin Juniors) will be coming in as a libero. This recruiting class brings with them a tremendous amount of success at the high school level. Vaughn won three Division 4 state titles, Koenen just won a Division 1 championship for Burlington, and Grabowski has been to three consecutive state tournaments with Greendale High School.
