What do you consider your strengths as a player?
As a player, I would say my greatest strengths are my attitude and probably my speed. Generally, I am easy-going and I think that translates well onto the court, because in pressure situations I can keep my cool and still play my game.
What do you consider your weaknesses?
My greatest weakness is becoming timid and not always staying aggressive offensively. Also, not staying mentally focused and confident.
What has been your favorite opposing gym to play in?
So far my favorite has been Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
Who is your favorite player to compete against?
It’s tough to say for sure, but I would say my (Legacy) teammate Jessica Robinson. She’s so talented that she makes myself and everyone else better. I love any chance I have to play against her.
What is your favorite part of the recruiting process? Least favorite?
My favorite part of the process is probably the recognition you get when you hear a school is interested. It makes it feel like your hard work is being recognized. My least favorite part is the huge amount of pressure and stress that comes with it.
Who is your favorite volleyball player?
Simone Lee (Penn State).
How would you compare high school volleyball to club volleyball?
I would say the two biggest differences are the speed of the game and the amount of support in the stands. Club volleyball can be a lot more competitive, because your opponent is always good. That makes the game a lot faster and cleaner than most high school matches. Another difference from my experience, is that high school volleyball usually draws more of a crowd. There’s more support from the community and classmates, while club is more close family and college coaches.
What piece of equipment could you not play in a match without?
Hands down, I couldn’t play without my shoes.
Any game day superstitions?
Nope, I’m not very superstitious.
Go-to game day food?
I always have Clif bars, especially the Crunch kind. White Chocolate Macadamia Nut flavor especially.
What goals have you set for yourself or your team for your senior season at DeWitt?
My personal goal every year is to improve upon my stats from the year before. The goals I have envisioned for my team next year is to make a tournament run and surprise people like we did this year.
What are your favorite hobbies outside of volleyball?
Outside of volleyball, my favorite hobbies are listening to music, yoga, and anything physical related.
What is your favorite social media platform and why?
My favorite is definitely Twitter. I love that whenever I open the app and there’s always something funny or interesting and I never know what to expect. Like there could be huge world news, a hilarious meme, random funny videos, or just people being funny. You basically can never get bored.
What do you hope to do when your volleyball career is over?
When my career is over, I don’t have any idea what I even want to be doing, but I do hope that I graduated happy with my experience.
