SubscribeWinning a bid in the American division of a USAV Qualifier is almost impossible, considering there is only one bid, which goes to the winner. Yet, Nebraska Elite 17 Razee nearly did just that, finishing second in the 68-team 17 American division of the Northern Lights Qualifier on Sunday.
Nebraska Elite won its first nine matches of the tournament to reach the championship. There were a couple close calls along the way, with Razee needing three sets to beat ICT 17 MAVS (20-25, 25-20, 15-4) on the second day of competition and then again to get past Minnesota Crossfire 171 (25-23, 23-25, 15-11) in the championship semifinals on Sunday.
In the championship match, PVA 17 National ended Nebraska Elite’s quest for a perfect 10 wins in the tournament by knocking off Razee 25-22, 25-16.
Also in the 17 American division, Banzai 171 made a great run as well, winning its first seven matches to reach the championship quarterfinals before falling to eventual champions PVA 17 National 25-19, 25-14.
Club Legacy 17 Shattered finished 61st in 17 American while in 16 American, Club Legacy 16 Shattered finished 34th, TeamMagic 161 finished 58th and TeamMagic 162 finished 78th.
In the 17 USA division, Club Legacy 17 ROX finished 39th.
