After cruising to a 4-0 record without dropping a set in its initial pool play in the 18 National division, Premier suffered its first setback of the tournament when Rockwood Thunder (also 4-0 at that point) rallied for a 19-25, 25-20, 15-10 win over 18 Gold.
That loss sent Premier into the challenge round for a chance to reach the championship bracket, but awaiting the Omaha-based team was Northern Lights 181, which defeated Premier 25-14, 25-22. Northern Lights would go on to finish in second place.
After the loss to Northern Lights, Premier played the final day in a Bronze bracket, where it knocked off FORZA1 18 UA in straight sets before falling 25-19, 25-19 to Club Iowa 18 Black in the bracket final. That put Premier 18 Gold in 19th place.
In the 18 USA division, Banzai 181 had a little more difficult of a time as it went 0-6 in the tournament to finish in 45h place.
In 18 American, Nebraska Elite 18 Envy started the tournament with two straight wins and finished it with two straight wins to finish 25th. It finished the tournament with a 25-18, 25-21 win over Southwest 18N to win the Flight 1 B bracket.
Meanwhile, Premier 18 Black won its final three matches of the tournament to take home a 49th-place finish in 18 American. Premier 18 Black finished the tournament with a 28-26, 21-25, 15-11 win over Marin Juniors Black to win its Flight 4 B bracket.
Only the 18s had its national championships last weekend for USAV, the remainder of the USAV national championship will take place in late June in Detroit.
