Continue ReadingIn the third edition of our series, The Volleyball Interview, we chat with Rockford’s Lindsay Taylor, a 2019 outside hitter for the Rams as well as FaR Out 18 Black. In her first year with Rockford in the fall of 2017, she racked up 610 kills and 290 digs while adding 62 aces and 30 blocks. She was named Second Team All-State in Class A for her efforts as Rockford reached the regional finals before falling in five sets to Grand Rapids Christian. Taylor, who is currently a top-5 player in our Class of 2019 rankings, hopes to get the Rams back to Battle Creek in 2018 after they reached the Class A final in 2016. A future Miami of Ohio RedHawk, find out what Taylor’s favorites are and why she is heading to the MAC for her college career.
What do you consider your strengths as a player?
Being a leader on the court and helping my teammate. Also, not getting down whenever mistakes are made.
What do you consider your weaknesses?
Always having energy throughout the game.
What has been your favorite opposing gym to play in?
Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
Who is your favorite player to compete against?
Melani Schaffmaster.
What is your favorite part of the recruiting process? Least favorite?
My favorite part is visiting all of the colleges and being able to see each of their campuses. My least favorite part was having to decide and eliminate colleges that I wasn’t interested in.
Who is your favorite volleyball player?
Kerri Walsh.
How would you compare high school volleyball to club volleyball?
There is an equal amount of talent, club just has a higher speed of play. Each play in club is fast and over within a few seconds.
What’s your favorite piece of volleyball equipment?
My shoes.
Any game-day superstitions?
None.
Go-to game day food?
Chicken.
What goals have you set for yourself or your team for your senior season at Rockford?
Play every game like it’s our last, and go 100% in every game no matter the opponent.
What was it about Miami of Ohio that made you decide to commit there?
The staff and players, and the campus is beautiful.
What are your favorite hobbies outside of volleyball?
Socializing with my friends and family, and always eating.
What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Snapchat, because I get to communicate with my friends that I have met around the country.
What do you hope to do when your volleyball career is over?
Become some type of engineer.
