SubscribeEisenhower High School in New Berlin, Wisconsin has always had a fairly strong volleyball program, and the 2017 team was no different. It was a team that played well together and worked hard toward the same goal. Last season the team took 9th out of a whopping 29 teams who participated in the UW-Whitewater Invite. What Coach David Olsen truly respected about this team was that they were willing to try new things to improve themselves, even though some tactics were more successful than others.
Going into this 2018 season, the Lions are looking to focus on teamwork and trust. The 2017 team included 5 starting seniors who graduated in May of 2018. With a very young team coming in, Coach Olsen hopes to build the teams strength both mentally and physically and tap into each athlete’s passion for the game.
The Lions will look to sophomore Camylle Lapp (Class of 2021, Right Side Hitter) who made a major impact for the Eisenhower team in her freshman year. An extremely diverse and dynamic athlete, Camylle will be a great offensive asset to the Lions as well as a budding leader on the team. As the only returning pin hitter, Coach Olsen will be looking to her to make an impact on offense.
Though the Lions will be a young team, with the leadership of their coach, they will be sure to grow a lot this season and set the program up for a lot of success in future years. Hopefully, they can use their strong teamwork and trust on the court to grab some big wins this season!
