Ella SiddallChip Will will be the head coach of this squad in 2019 and he has a roster with some championship experience. Outside Maria Bos (Calvin) is coming off a state championship with Grand Rapids Christian in November while setter Ella Siddall (DePaul) reached the Division 4 state championship match with Leland. Joining Bos at the net will be outsides Morgan Smith (Aquinas) and Rylie Walters (Cornerstone), as well as middles Avolyn Lepo (Oakland), Kate Tsironis and Claire Phillips. Phillips is one of three 2020 grads on the squad. Joining her are setter Grace Fath and DS Maggie Wehrmeyer. The team should have some strong defense, as Wehrmeyer and Andrea Salasky will be the two leaders in the back row.
17 National Black
Ayva KooistraAbby Aiken will coach this promising squad of 10 players. Leading the way will be a pair of Grand Rapids Christian hitters in middle Ayva Kooistra and outside Addie Vanderwiede. Both were a big part of the Eagles championship run in the fall. Vanderwiede is one of two 2021 players on the squad. Joining her is setter Bailey Torpey. On the outside, Vanderwiede is joined by Mallory Keller (Indiana State), Olivia Bergsma and Ashley Slater. Kooistra is joined in the middle by Meghan Meyer. Torpey and Andrea Schriver will be the setting options for these hitters and they should have a very powerful attack to work with. Defensively, Gracie Gorsline and Madelyn Long are two talented defensive specialists that have faced some big hitters over the years.
16 National Black
Mayme Vlietstra heads up this year’s squad and this 9-player team should be very dangerous at the net. This young squad has three players standing 6-feet tall or higher in outsides Mackenzie Gross and Sophie Plate, as well as middle Tatum Otolski. Both Gross and Plate have a vertical that can take them up to 9-8. Brianna Miller is also a versatile outside that will be on the team and Rachel Carlson joins Otolski in the middle. Riley Hoffman and 2022’s Cayden Anschutz will handle setting duties this year and Julia Bouma and Katie Stotts will patrol the back row.
15 National Black
Anna Tollefson is the coach for this squad of nine freshmen. This squad has some great size to work with in 6-4 outside Evelyn Doezma and 6-2 middle Brooklyn Conner. Doezema was part of the championship team at Grand Rapid Christian this fall while Conner made a big impact for Forest Hills Central behind her 10-foot vertical. Sophie Shields and Abigail Zylstra may not have the size of Doezema, but the two fellow outsides have proven to pack a punch and show a lot of all-around skills. Ava Young is another talented middle that will play alongside Conner. Setters Hannah Bitely and Alyssa DeVries will get to feed the talented hitting options while Sierra Nausieda and Alina Anderson are the defensive specialists to complete this promising team.
14 National Black
Craig Vlietstra will coach this group of nine future prep stars. The squad had a pair of versatile setter/outside hitter players in Corrie Wisser and Grace Spoelma. Spoelma is the lone 2024 graduate on the team. They will each have a promising 6-foot outside to set to in Shelby Porter. The team also has developing outsides in Emma Costello and Allison Werkma, while Maureen Winstanley and Makenzie Ritsema will play the middle. In the back row, Kate Hotaling and Charlotte Mclean will be the go-to players for this squad.
