This was a neat tournament compiled of one 18s team, six 17s teams, and one 16s team. Let’s take a look at some of the top performers.
#1 – Wisconsin Ice 16 Purple
Brooklyn Montgomery – 2021 – 5’6 – Outside Hitter – Mosinee
Montgomery came up big for her team as a 6-rotation outside. She is considered undersized, but she has such a great range of shots and accurate placement. Montgomery was also clutch at the service line with a deadly low flat float.
Julia JakuczJulia Jakusz – 2021 – 5’8 – Pin Hitter – Pacelli
Jakusz was incredibly efficient hitting from both pins throughout the day. She also sets a strong block and can be quite frustrating for hitters. Jakusz plays solid off-blocker defense and transitions well.
Rachel Travis – 2021 – 5’3 – Libero – Merrill
Travis was solid in serve-receive and effectively took teams out of system with her serving. She did a great job at reading and staying low on defense to keep balls alive. Travis was also a great communicator and ran the back court effectively.
#2 – Blue Wave 17-
Julianna Rosen – 2020 – 6’0 – Outside Hitter – Clear Lake
Rosen has such a high reach and strong line shot. She has solid off-blocker defense and is solid in serve-receive. Rosen would be a great pick-up for a college program.
#19 – This outside hitter was a super scrappy defender. She also had a nice high contact and snap on the ball.
#3 – Velocity G17
I wasn’t able to find roster information for Chippewa Valley Velocity Volleyball Club, so if anyone can tell me who belongs to these jersey numbers, that would be really helpful!
#10 – This player had a clutch serve that was a low flat deep float serve.
#4 – This outside hitter elevates quickly and hits a nice line shot. She was also a clutch server in some tight sets.
#18 – This Libero does a fantastic job taking care of the corners. This can be a really tough job!
#5 – This middle blocker is a smart attacker and does a great job of timing a well-placed tip to the 4 corner.
#3 – Legacy Elite 18s
Cassidy Stanger – 2019 – 5’7 – Middle Blocker – Ladysmith
Stanger is undersized as a middle blocker, but she competes with a nice fast swing.
Delaney Herbes – 2019 – 5’6 – Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist – Ladysmith
Herbes is another undersized hitter, but she does a great job at consistently finding the deep cross corner shot.
Rian Engelhardt – 2020 – 5’4 – Outside Hitter – Ladysmith
This Legacy team was all-around quite small, but fast and efficient. Engelhard could turn the ball line or swing fast in the split.
#5 – Eau Claire Storm 17-2
Erica Oster – 2021 – 5’10 – Middle Blocker – Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran
Oster has a nice high reach to set up a big block. She also sees the court well and takes a fast hard swing over the block or in the split.
Faith Kazemba – 2022 – Libero – Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran
Kazemba is solid in serve-receive as the team’s top passer. She also does a great job of reading and seeing the attacker.
#5 – Cadott Stingers 17-1
Autumn Bremness – 2020 – 5’8 – Pin Hitter/Setter – Cadott
Bremness has a wicked fast lefty swing. She does a great job at protecting the net and knows how to find the endline. Bremness is explosive with a big vertical and tough to defend as a lefty. She would usually be in a right-side hitting position, but for this team, she has stepped in as a setter and an outside hitter and does a really solid job.
Haylee Rowe – 2021 – 5’7 – Outside Hitter/Setter – Cadott
Rowe did a solid job at finding the split and taking a nice hard swing.
