CWVC is a small club with 8 teams and a shorter season, with 5 or 6 tournaments that are more local in order to cater to the 3-sport athletes. They have some great coaches on staff and some solid athletes that would be solid pick-ups for a smaller university looking for 2-sport athletes.
Mckenna KrallDefensively, CWVC 18 Black has Stratford libero, Mckenna Krall (2020 – 5’4) who had 332 digs this past fall. Krall was a defensive force for the Tigers, taking them all the way to the D3 state championship match against Lake Country Lutheran. Her solid passing and scrappy defense kept her team in system and opportunities to terminate.
The team’s main outside hitters include Abbotsford junior Jayda Friedenfels Jayda Friedenfels RS Abbotsford | 2020 State WI , who had 204 kills this fall. Friedenfels has been a contributor for the Falcons since her freshman year and is a very versatile player, giving her a lot of opportunities to play and help Abbotsford to some solid records the past few years. There is also Kaitlyn Turchi (2019 – 5’7 – Columbus Catholic) and Teryn Lau (2019 – Auburndale). Turchi played on both pins for the Dons and helped them to a 27-10 season and a nice post season run until losing to Newman in the D4 Regional Final.
In the middle will be a solid trio including Jessica Jakopin, a 5’10 junior from Columbus Catholic, Merrill 5’9 senior Kelly Bowe, and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln senior Hailey Wilhorn. Jakopin was a teammate of Turchi on the strong Columbus Catholic team. She put up a frustrating block for her opponents and ran smart routes to terminate.
The offense will be run by Mackenzie Raab (2019 – Setter – Auburndale) and Bailey Matis Bailey Matis 5'10" Marshfield | 2020 State WI (2020 – 5’5 – Setter – Marshfield). Raab has run the Auburndale offense for years and also posed a threat on defense, being known as very scrappy and relentless in pursuing the ball. She embodied the Auburndale way of play and helped model that mentality for players to come.
