The one who can always be counted on to pull the team up when they are down and motivate other players when they are struggling. These energizers have a high level of mental toughness and a ton of grit.
Each of the players listed below made an impact on me as an energizer athlete who is crucial to the mentality of their individual team.
Maggie Rohde (Middle Blocker, Class of 2020, One Wisconsin 17-1)
Maggie is a definite playmaker on this One Wisconsin team. She brings energy and motivation to the court and knows how to make big plays. Even when her team is down, she pushes through and works even harder to put a ball down or make a big block.
Jenna Barrette (Libero, Class of 2020, Epic 17 Black, Prep Dig Rank #148)
Jenna is a gritty player. She never lets a ball hit the floor without her landing next to it. She is fast and always looking to improve. If an opponent gets a kill on her, she makes sure they don’t get a kill with the same shot again. Her high level of energy is a huge motivator for her team.
Saige Damrow (Libero, Class of 2023, FC Elite 16 Navy)
Yes, you read that right, Saige is not even in high school yet and was crucial in her teams 16 Open win at the JVA MKE Jamboree this weekend. Her intensity on the court is electric and she literally never stops moving. From calling shots to anticipating where the ball is going to go, Saige is the definition of an energizer on the court.
Riley Hamilton (Outside Hitter/DS, Class of 2022, Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold)
What first made me notice Riley was how hard she worked on the court. Whether she was a 6 rotation outside for Sting or playing just in the back row, she did not let up a single ounce of energy when she was on the court. Her energy had a clear impact on her team.
Lydia Biggin (Right Side, Class of 2022, Milwaukee Sting 15 White)
Every time I saw Lydia Biggin on the court she made a positive impact on her team. She is clearly hard working and has great energy both on and off the court. This right side put up a solid block and had a great excitement about her.
Emma Baierl (Setter, Class of 2022, FC Elite 15 Navy)
Emma is an extremely talented setter who also is a developed leader on her team. Her ability to motivate her teammates is amazing. She is consistent and leads verbally as well as by example. She ran a 5-1 at the JVA MKE Jamboree and her constant leadership on the court had a huge impact on her team and led the team to their championship in the 15 Open division.
These energizers are all unique in their leadership styles. They are constantly working to better themselves and their team and do a good job of it. Their energy and leadership make them fun to watch and extremely impactful athletes.
