In 15 American, Nebraska Elite 15 Coast went 4-0 in a rare five-team pool on Saturday. The big win was a 28-26, 23-25, 15-7 decision over Lava East 15 Adidas that gave Coast the first-place finish in its pool. Coast also swept Laguna Beach 15 Amy, UNO Girls 15 Blue and SPVC 15-1 during pool play on Saturday.
Also in 15 American, Nebraska West 151 went 1-2 and will play in the consolation portion of the tournament the final two days.
In 16 American, Nebraska Elite 16 Ohana went a perfect 3-0 in something of a surprise finish based on the initial seedings. Ohana was seeded #143 overall in the 222-team division. The big win over Ohana was a 25-17, 22-25, 15-9 victory over OJVA 162s, which allowed Ohana to take over the #31 overall seed heading into play today.
In the 16 Open division, Nebraska Elite 16 2.0 went 1-2 and will be in the consolation rounds the rest of the tournament. The decisive match for Elite was a 26-24, 27-25 loss against RAGE VBC 161s of California, which wound up finishing just ahead of Elite in the pool.
