There are also resources out there detailing which colleges will be needing specific positions in the coming years. We found two Wisconsin Colleges that expressed a need for outsides and middles next season and beyond.
UW-Superior: The Yellow Jackets finished the 2018-2019 season with a winning record 20-12. This year they only had 4 juniors. Assuming they all return next year, that means they will have four seniors. In other words, there will be a lot of spaces to be filled. An incoming freshmen would have the chance to step in an step up to fill a spot. Their current squad lacks height. The tallest on their roster is 6′ Julia Heck from Elkhorn, Wisconsin. It would be easy to imagine a taller outside joining and getting solid minutes. Likewise a middle who knows how to effectively swing block would be a helpful to their current team.
If you are interested or know an outside or middle who might be, fill out their prospect form here. It is not too late to be a part of this division 3 program. Division III is great for the athlete who isn’t ready to stop playing but also has a focus on academics and enjoying the college experience.
Perhaps Superior is too far from home, then maybe Milwaukee Area Technical College would suit you better. A junior college in the NJCAA, the Stormer’s volleyball program is in need of a reboot after finishing the season 5-18. Despite, their record, there are many positive things to consider:
- Head coach: Shel Delisle is an experienced coach. She was a multi-sport ahtlete at Marquette Univserity and is a favorite for private lesson. She has a lot of knowledge and will likely have this program turned around in no time!
- Low tuition: This is a great way to lower college costs. Start here, with generals and play volleyball.
- Balance: As a junior college, you will only use two years of your eligibility. So, you could transfer or finish your career and focus solely on academics.
- Dual Sports: A school of this size would be a great home for a player who can’t decide which sport they would like to continue to play in college.
For the 2019 season they are in need of strong middles and outside hitters. However, in the up-coming years, they will also need a solid libero. Reach out if you are interested here.
