Most of those teams – 34 of the 44 – will be competing in either the American or USA divisions at the Show Me Qualifier that begins tomorrow and runs through Monday. Here is a look at how Nebraska teams are seeded in each division.
17 USA – 42 teams in the division
Nebraska’s lone team in the division is Nebraska Juniors 17 Red, which is seeded 36th in the tournament.
17 American – 96 teams in the division
Nebraska’s representation in the 17s age division is a little light this year, as there are only four in American to go with the one in USA.
Nebraska’s best bet for a champion likely lies in either Nebraska Elite 17 Crossfire, which is seeded #37 in the tournament or Nebraska ONE 17 Platinum, which comes in as the #46 seed.
Action Motion 17 Chaos and MNVBC 171 are also competing in the tournament.
16 USA – 64 teams in the division
The younger age divisions is where Nebraska is well represented in terms of overall teams and talent. Premier 16 Black has a really good shot at being alive on the final day of the tournament and is seeded #6 overall going into Saturday’s opening rounds of pool play. VCNebraska 16 Black also earned a good seed, coming in at #24 and Club Legacy 16 Ren is seeded #32, but has the distinct privilege of being able to take over the top seed if it can beat the top seed – Northern Lights 162 – on day one.
Club Legacy 16 Shattered, Nebraska Gold 16s and Nebraska Juniors 16 Red are also participating in this division.
16 American – 128 teams in the division
This division doesn’t feature any teams from Nebraska that secured one of the better overall seeds, but still has a pair with a good chance of advancing out of Saturday’s pool play with bid aspirations still in tact.
Nebraska ONE 16 Empire comes in as the #35 overall seed while Nebraska ONE 16 Fuego is the #39 overall seed, putting both in a good position to finish in the top half of their pools on Saturday. Nebraska ONE 16 Extreme, Team Magic Sttix 161 and VCNebraska 16 Blue are all seeded in the bottom half of their pools in this division.
15 USA – 56 teams in the division
The 15 USA division is one where teams from Nebraska could bump into each other while competing in the championship bracket on Monday.
Premier 15 Black comes into the tournament as the #2 overall seed while Nebraska Juniors 15 Black is the #4 overall seed and Nebraska Elite 15 Fiji is seeded #9 overall.
VCNebraska 15 Black, KVC 151 and Club Legacy 15 Ren are also competing in the division and have a decent shot themselves at making a long run this weekend.
15 American – 128 teams in the division
South Central Nebraska VBC – based in the Aurora area – may not be the largest club in Nebraska, but it puts out some outstanding teams, as is the case with its 15 Black team that comes into this tournament as the #2 overall seed.
Premier 15 Red isn’t far behind as the #7 seed. Teams in this division have their work cut out for them as there is only one bid available in American for the 128 teams competing.
Banzai 151 (#23), Club Legacy 15 Shattered (#64), Nebraska Elite 15 Forte (#53), Nebraska ONE 15 Impact (#38), Nebraska ONE 15 Impulse (#50), Nebraska ONE 15 Riot (#15), Premier 15 Silver (#32), South Central Nebraska 15 Red (#59) and VCNebraska 15 Blue (#56) are all seeded in the top half of their pools for Saturday. VCNebraska 15 White is also competing in the tournament.
