Continue ReadingMINNEAPOLIS – A total of seven of the 13 teams from Nebraska advanced on in the pursuit of divisional titles at the Northern Lights USAV Qualifier in Minneapolis on Friday.
Championship and consolation pool play continues today at the Minneapolis Convention Center with the championship brackets taking place on Sunday. It is the final USAV Qualifier of the 2019 season.
Here is a look at how each of the teams competing in the tournament did on Friday.
17 American
All three of Nebraska’s teams in this division advanced in the championship pursuit. Premier 17 Red and Banzai 171 each went 2-1 to automatically move up from their pool while Nebraska ONE 17 Platinum also went 2-1 but it took a 25-15 win over Hot Shotz 17 Black in a playoff match in order for it to advance on.
16 Open
Nebraska Elite 16 2.0 went 2-1 to advance on in the championship portion of the division while VCNebraska 16 Elite also went 2-1 but suffered a 25-17 loss to Colorado Juniors 16 Shannon in a playoff match and was sent into the consolation portion of the tournament.
16 USA
Banzai 161 had a good day on Friday and went 2-1 to advance on in the championship portion of the tournament while Club Legacy 16 Ren went 0-3 and is now in the consolation portion,
16 American
This was the division where teams from Nebraska struggled the most with just two of the six advancing up. VCNebraska 16 Blue went 3-0 on the day while Nebraska Elite 16 Black Ice went 2-1 as both advanced up.
Nebraska Elite 16 Ohana went 2-1 but lost a 25-10 decision to Topeka Impact in a playoff match to fall into the consolation portion. Also going into the consolation portion was Starlings Omaha 16s Erin Chloe (1-2), Banzai 16 Mark (1-2) and Club Legacy 16 Shattered (0-3).
