The 2019 Great Plains Region Bid Tournament took place on Sunday in Omaha, which resulted in the two teams in each of the three older divisions – 15s, 16s and 17s – earning a trip to the championships in Indianapolis.
A vast majority of teams from Nebraska head to Orlando in June to take part in the AAU national championships, but there are now 10 teams total from the state that will compete in the 15-17s divisions.
17s
Premier 17 Gold took home the bid tournament title and the National division bid that goes with it while Premier 17 Black finished second and accepted the bid in the American Division. Those will be the only two teams in the 17s division at USAV GJNC.
16s
Premier 16 Gold and Nebraska Elite 16 2.0 had each secured bids to the USAV GJNC in the Open division during the qualifier season. On Sunday, Premier 16 Black won the bid tournament and accepted the bid to the National division of GJNC while Banzai 16 Max Select finished second and accepted a GJNC bid in the American Division.
15s
Premier 16 Gold previously qualified at the Colorado Crossroads in the Open division and Premier 15 Black qualified in the USA division – also in Denver. So, on Sunday, Nebraska Elite 15 Coast won the bid tournament and accepted the National bid while Nebraska Elite 15 Fiji placed second and accepted the American Division bid.
The USAV GJNC runs June 27-July 6.
