FaR Out 18 Black had a solid day in their own right, going 2-1 in pool play to stay in the mix of it all.
Legacy 18-Elite didn’t drop any of their six sets on Saturday, as they started the day with a 25-13, 25-13 win over Carolina UVC 18 Premier. Next up was a 25-18, 25-18 win over Team Academy. The day ended with its toughest match of Saturday, a 25-22, 25-18 win over Mizuno M1 181.
For FaR Out 18 Black, the Grand Rapids-based squad started out the day with a pair of wins. It bested SMASH 18 Attack 25-14, 25-9 and then topped Absolute 18 Black 25-18, 25-19. The loss came in a closely-contested match with Mizuno Northern Lights 18-1, one of the top teams in the field. FaR Out suffered a 25-21, 26-24 defeat, but proved that they can compete with the best.
The focus for both teams moves to Sunday, where new pools have been formed. Each will be part of a 3-team pool consisting of a first, second and third-place team from a Saturday pool. From those pools, Challenge matches will be completed to then set up Monday’s championship and consolation brackets.
Legacy 18-Elite will be part of the A Pool alongside Absolute 18 Black and Sports Performance 18 Elite. FaR Out 18 Black will be part of the D pool, joining Asics Kiva 18 Red and Team Indiana Elite 181.
