Legacy picked up another three wins on Sunday to improve to 6-0 for the weekend. It started with two matches in Pool A. Legacy defeated Absolute 18 Black 25-13, 25-11 and then followed that up with a 25-14, 25-16 win over Sports Performance 18 Elite.
That moved Legacy into a Challenge Round matchup with fellow Michigan squad, FaR Out 18 Black. Legacy was able to pick up a 25-18, 25-19 win to advance into Monday’s championship bracket.
In Monday’s semifinal, Legacy will face a familiar foe in Sports Performance 18 Elite, which upset Asics KIVA 18 Red in the Challenge Round, 25-23, 25-22. The two will collide again at 8 a.m. The other semifinal features Asics Munciana Samurai facing off with Mizuno Northern Lights 18-1. The two semifinal winners will meet on Monday at noon for the AAU national title.
Legacy and Northern Lights are the only 6-0 teams through the first two days. Northern Lights dropped one set while Legacy has yet to drop any. For Legacy, they have held their opponents under 20 points in 11 of the 12 sets they have played on the weekend.
FaR Out 18 Black has landed itself in the consolation bracket after going 1-2 on Sunday. FaR Out started its day with a 25-15, 22-25, 15-9 win over Team Indiana Elite 181 but then suffered a 25-18, 29-27 loss to Asica KIVA 18 Red before falling to Legacy in the Challenge Round. FaR Out will face Brandywine Blackout 18s in the first round of the consolation bracket on Monday at 9 a.m. It will need to win three matches on the day to claim the bracket title.
