With the trend in club volleyball being that 18s are ending their seasons earlier to accommodate the need for players to prepare for life after high school and transitioning to college, the 18s division of AAU Nationals took place about a month earlier than the other age divisions. The USAV National Championships ended earlier in the spring.
At the AAU National Championships, there were four divisions. Those divisions, in order of most competitive, are Open, Premier, Club and Classic.
There were no teams from Nebraska that competed in the Open division. In the Premier division, Nebraska Juniors 18 Red went 2-6 and finished in a tie for 15th place out of 18 teams.
In the Club division, River City Juniors 18 Navy went 5-2 and tied for fifth place in the 19-team division. Meanwhile, River City Juniors 18 Red went 3-4 in the Classic division and finished in a tie for 13th place in the 25-team division.
Millard South senior-to-be Sam Steele, an Ohio libero recruit, earned All-American honors in the Club division of the tournament.
