Continue ReadingThe 2021s can officially be contacted once again, but there are still a lot of college programs looking to finalize their 2020 recruiting class, and there will be top notch talent in Orlando at AAU Girl’s Junior National Volleyball Championships. There will be athletes and coaches coming from all over the country to compete against the best of the best. Here are some of the top available prospects from the Class of 2020 that will be in Orlando.
Carly Clausen – 6’2 – Middle Blocker – Milwaukee Sting 17 Black
Clausen is a dynamic hitter and very physical as a middle blocker. She has benefited from having top coaches in both her club and high school seasons. Clausen should be expected to be an impact player this fall with her ability to make plays both offensively and defensively.
Emily AlanEmily Alan – 6’1 – Middle Blocker – Wisconsin Juniors 17-1
Alan is a 6’1 middle from the back-to-back Division 1 State Champions, Burlington. She adapts to work around the defense and is very athletic. Alan’s ability to move well laterally allows her to create issues for the opposing side with a block and also her ability to run a number of routes really well. You can find her and her team in the 17 Open Division in Pool L on June 21st starting bright and early at 9am against K2 17 Adidas.
Emily WendtEmily Wendt – 5’9 – Setter – Motion 17 Blue
Wendt is a strong all-around player and runs the offense for Motion as a setter. She has experience and the ability to run a high powered offense. Wendt has a high volleyball IQ and is very athletic. She actually ran a 5-1 and played in the middle while she was in the front row last fall at the Joust. She would be a great fit in a solid D2 program once her high school and club careers are done.
Madelyn Kelley – 6’1 – Middle Blocker – Capital 17 Adidas
Kelley is a solid all-around athlete. She uses her athleticism to move well laterally. Kelley can get from pin to pin to close the block. You can see her and Capital competing in the 17 Premier Division in Pool R on June 21st.
Rylee VaughnRylee Vaughn – 5’6 – Libero – Milwaukee Sting 17 Black
Vaughn is a “lights out” passer. Her defense is just as strong, and she gets a ton of touches on balls most would consider dead. Vaughn paired up with Gianna Feld (Committed To Marian) to make a dynamic defensive duo. You can see Vaughn, Clausen, and Sting in the 17 Premier Division in Pool J on the morning of June 21st.
Sarah Mattes – 6’0 – Middle Blocker/Right Side Hitter – Motion 17 Blue
Mattes plays in the middle or on the right side where she provides a big block. She can also be a great point scorer since she runs good routes and has a high contact. You can see Mattes, Wendt, and Motion playing in the 17 Classic Division in Pool H in the afternoon on June 21st.
