With Ashwaubenon winning some key matches and taking home the title in 2018, there is a wide open race after the graduation of Ashwaubenon’s Senior class and some really strong players ready to step in as some of the best players in the conference. Here is a quick look at some of the top players looking to take their team to the top.
Katie DiRaimondo and Lauren Borchardt – Manitowoc Lincoln
Lincoln might be one of the favorites with a lot of experience coming back in their lineup and their pin hitters of DiRaimondo who has committed to play Division 1 at Tennessee Tech and Borchardt who is a big time flyer on the pin who can pack a punch on her swing. A strong showing at Wisconsin Team Camp showed the potential this team has with winning the conference title being within reach this season.
Katherine Walch of Notre DameKatherine Walch – Notre Dame Academy
Walch may be the top libero in the conference and has committed to play at Michigan Tech after she completes her high school career. She will be looking to lead NDA back to the top with a solid first contact. Teams will be avoiding to serve at her, but she will have a ton of range in left back. Besides her scrappiness and all out play, Walch just brings a ton of energy to the court and can change the momentum quickly with a big dig.
Taylor Birr – Pulaski
Birr had a big time year for One Wisconsin during her club season and will be one of the top setters in the league. A dynamic athlete who can do a little bit of everything, Birr will be a threat at the net as well to attack on second contact or provide a solid block as well.
Lizzie Binder – Sheboygan North
Brooke Clement of Bay PortBinder is no longer the young player on the roster after having a roster loaded with upper classmen the past two years. Binder is extremely versatile who can play on either pin, solid in serve receive, an attacker and solid defender in the backrow, and has a variety of shots to score. If North can serve receive and pass to let Binder and their really tall front line they will be a dangerous team to contend with.
Brooke Clement – Bay Port
This conference is going to be dominated with outside hitters and Clement is definitely up there with a really aggressive and physical style of attacking. Bay Port is loaded with all around athletes and Clement will be one of the tops, along with their other pin in Alyssa Koska to always have an outlet. There will be some really key matches this season and Bay Port will have plenty of key ones to compete for the top.
Brianna Geurts – De Pere
Geurts has developed into an athlete who can hit from any front row position having experience as a middle, but also a really solid attacker on the left or right side. De Pere will have the size and athleticism to be a contender and with Geurts being a go to attacker, she will be able to score a lot of points.
Grace Perrett – Green Bay Preble
Perrett is the leading attacker back for Preble who has been a go to player since her Freshman year. Perrett is solid in all six rotations and had nearly 250 kills last season.
