The 15 Open division of the USAV Girls Junior National Championship concluded today in Indianapolis, and no other division speaks more to that point. And, unfortunately, the biggest example happens to be Premier 15 Gold.
After winning its first seven matches of the tournament and dropping just two sets along the way, Premier 15 Gold hit its only bump in the road on Sunday night in a 31-29, 25-15 loss to Lions 151 in a challenge match, which, in essence, is the start of the 16-team, single-elimination format to determine the winner.
Premier 15 Gold rebounded to win both of its matches today to finish in a tie for 9th place, giving it a final record of 9-1 in the tournament. In fact, 9-1 was the best record of anyone in the tournament, done by Premier 15 Gold as well as Mizuno Long Beach Rockstars 151 (tied for 5th) and OT 15 O. Melito (tied for 3rd).
In the championship match, H Skyline 15 Royal defeated Arizona Storm 15 Thunder 25-15, 25-15. Premier 15 Gold defeated Arizona Storm 15 Thunder in three sets earlier in the tournament.
In the 15 National division, Nebraska Elite 15 Coast finished in a tie for 41st place while in the 15 USA division, Premier 15 Black placed 17th. Nebraska Elite 15 Fiji tied for 25th place in the 15 American division.
