The Class of 2023 is talent-heavy. Here are five freshmen to watch in the postseason.
Sidney Arstingstall (OH, St. Henry High School): Among the state’s top young high school volleyball players, Arstingstall helped to lead tradition-rich St. Henry throughout the regular-season. Arstingstall played all 85 sets in 32 regular-season games for the Crusaders, registering 152 kills, 138 digs and 55 aces. The freshman leads St. Henry in aces and ranks third in kills. St. Henry is poised to face Dixie Heights in the 34th District championship game at Ryle High School on Wednesday night.
Addie Atcher (OH, Central Hardin High School): An outside hitter, Atcher has been instrumental in Central Hardin’s success throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season. Atcher has registered 306 kills, 28 blocks, 22 digs and five assists over Central Hardin’s 105 sets (36 games). She ranks second in kills and will be looking to helped lead Central Hardin as it battles nemesis Elizabethtown in the 17th District championship game at John Hardin High School on Wednesday night.
Chloe Fortner (L/DS, Cooper High School): The productive Fortner appeared in 92 of 96 sets played as part of 32 games for Cooper during the regular-season. Fortner leads Coopers in digs (442). Along with producing in the digs column, Fortner has recorded 40 assists and 29 aces for the Jaguars. Cooper is set to face rival Ryle in the 33rd District championship game at Boone County High School on Wednesday night.
Madi Hartman (DS, North Oldham High School): With North Oldham poised to compete for a 29th District title, Hartman is among the team’s key players. Hartman has played in 29 of North Oldham’s 30 games. She has produced in 81 sets for the Mustangs. Hartman has delivered 151 digs, 20 assists and 19 aces for North Oldham, which is scheduled to face rival South Oldham on the road in the 29th District championship game on Wednesday night.
Hailey Little (MB, Paintsville High School): A young standout for back-to-back 15th Region champion Paintsville, Little made an early impact during her high school career. One game into the postseason, Little has appeared in all 97 sets played as part of 34 matches. Little leads Paintsville in kills (377) and blocks (47) while also contributing in assists (19), digs (91) and aces (75). Now, Little is poised to lead Paintsville in the 58th District title game versus familiar foe Martin County on Thursday night.
