Continue ReadingThe honors continue to roll in for Assumption senior outside hitter Anna DeBeer. A longtime leader for back-to-back staet champion and national powerhouse Assumption, DeBeer has been named the 2019 Ms. Kentucky Volleyball by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA).
Heading into the 2019 KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament, DeBeer has recorded 351 kills, 19 blocks, 25 assists and 24 aces. DeBeer has helped to lead Assumption to 26th District and 7th Region titles thus far in the 2019 high school volleyball season.
In late-October, DeBeer, who has committed to the University of Louisville, was named the 7th Region Player of the Year by the KVCA. She’ll take the floor for Assumption in the first round of the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament at Valley High School in Louisville on Friday, Nov. 8.
Mercy junior libero Eleanor Beavin has been named the 2019 KVCA Defensive Player of the Year. Beavin earned the defensive award from the KVCA for the second straight year. Heading into the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament, Beavin has registered 600 digs, 107 assists, 80 aces and 21 kills.
Assumption head coach Ron Kordes has been named the 2019 KVCA Coach of the Year. Kordes earned the top coaching honor from the KVCA for a second straight year. He has guided the Rockets to 26th District and 7th Region titles. The Assumption head coach is looking to guide his program to its third straight state championship.
