However, before wrapping up her high school career, Postema will look to help North Oldham vie for a state championship. The Lady Mustangs claimed the 2019 8th Region championship on Thursday, Oct. 31, shutting out Woodford County 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-11).
Through her first 94 sets in the 2019 high school volleyball season, Postema has tallied 888 assists, 210 digs, 109 kills, 20 blocks and 25 aces.
Postema won’t be the lone Kentuckian on the roster when she joins the Virginia Tech volleyball program in 2020. Currently, Cooper High School product Kaity Smith is a junior outside hitter for the Hokies. Prior to beginning her college career, Smith played club volleyball for Lexington United.
Virginia Tech competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), along with Louisville, Notre Dame, Florida State, Pitt, Boston College, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Clemson, Miami, Duke, NC State, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Virginia.
Postema and her North Oldham teammates are set to face Woodford County in the 8th Region title match on their home floor Thursday evening.
