Here are 10 16-year-old middle hitters to watch.
Bailey Brashear: A 6-1 sophomore middle hitter, Brashear is a student-athlete from Rowan County High School in Morehead. The leader at the net (326 kills) for the 2019 16th Region champion, Brashear is competing for Lexington United 16 Adidas.
Kelsey Hillebrand: A 6-1 sophomore middle hitter, Hillebrand is a student-athlete from North Oldham High School in Goshen. A promising young player for the 8th Region champion, Hillebrand is competing for Union Asics 16-1.
Jasmine Koonce: A 5-11 sophomore middle hitter, Koonce is a student-athlete from Great Crossing High School in Georgetown. A contributor for her upstart high school team in its first season, Koonce is competing for Lexington United 16 Adidas.
Mykole Morgan: A 5-11 sophomore middle hitter/outside hitter, Morgan is a student-athlete from Seneca High School in Louisville. A consistent performer for high school team as a sophomore, Morgan is competing for KIVA 16 Red.
Taylor Preston: A 6-1 sophomore middle hitter/outside hitter, Preston is a student-athlete from St. Henry High School in Erlanger. A force at the net, Preston registered a team-high 374 kills for St. Henry in 2019. Preston is competing for NKYVC 16-1.
Trinity Ramey: A 5-11 sophomore middle hitter/outside hitter, Ramey is a student-athlete from Christian Academy-Louisville. After ranking fourth in kills and second in blocks for her high school team, Ramey is competing for Union Asics 16-2.
Madison Rice-Locket: A six foot sophomore middle hitter/outside hitter, Rice-Locket is a student-athlete from Male High School in Louisville. One of the top high school volleyball players in the state, Rice-Lockett is competing for KIVA 16 Red.
Mia Saenz: A 6-1 sophomore middle hitter, Saenz is a student-athlete from Bryan Station High School in Lexington. Expected to help lead Bryan Station in the 2020 high school season, Saenz is competing for KIVA 16 Red.
Brenna Young: A 5-11 sophomore middle hitter/outside hitter, Young is a student-athlete from South Oldham High School in Crestwood. After helping to pace her high school team in 2019, Young is competing for Union Asics 16-1.
Kara Ward: A freshman middle hitter, Ward is a student-athlete from Paintsville High School. Ward helped to lead Paintsville to the 57th District championship and an appearance in the 15th Region Semifinals in 2019, recording 354 kills, 91 digs and 52 service aces. Ward is competing for Northeastern Kentucky Elite Volleyball Academy.
