In an early-season outing last weekend, CKVA notched multiple wins. The CKVA 15s finished 3-3 overall. Building momentum of its own, the CKVA 18s won their final three matches. Turning in another solid performance, the CKVA 17s registered back-to-back wins.
CKVA thrived during its season opener, turning in three Top 10 finishes at the Winter Warm-Up In Bowling Green on Sunday, Jan. 13. The CKVA 15s finished 2-2 in the Winter Warm-Up, claiming sixth place out of 10 teams. The CKVA 17s finished 2-2 in the Winter Warm-Up, earning eighth place out of 15 teams. Recording the best finish for the Campbellsville-based club, the CKVA 18s finished 5-1 and placed runner-up out of 15 teams in the 17s/18s division.
Stephen and Amy Zink are co-directors of the Central Kentucky Volleyball Academy. Stephen Zink is the head volleyball coach at Taylor County High School. Amy Zink is an assistant coach on the Taylor County High School volleyball coaching staff. Stephen Zink has coached eight seasons at Taylor County High School. He was an assistant coach at Campbellsville University for two years. Amy Zink played at Mercy Academy and Campbellsville University. She was named NAIA Libero of the Year in 2005. Amy Zink served as an assistant coach at Campbellsville University for two years. She was head coach at Campbellsville University for eight years.
CKVA teams compete for titles annually. The program is home to some of the top high school volleyball players in Central Kentucky.
Currently, CKVA teams are competing against other squads from various states in a highly-competitive early-season tournament in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
A breakdown of the CKVA teams follows.
CKVA 18-1: Addison Gordon, Asia Cooper, Autumn Henderson, Bella Venegas, Emma Sullivan, Fran Taylor, Graysie Jaggers, Katie Floyd, Katrina Brown, Margaret Stevens.
CKVA 17-1: Abby Warner, Aly Rose, Claire Taylor, Grayson Wise, Kameron Jackson, Nicole Duplantis, Sarah Adkins, Tayler Thompson, Willow Berry, Zoie Sidebottom.
CKVA 15-1: Alyssa Jones, Briley Burns, Chloe Simpson, Ella Conley, Emily Melton, Gracelynn Akin, Hidey Ingram, Jocelyn Heller, Katelyn Kelly, Mackenzie Barr, Makenna Pyles.
