The 14U club team based out of Hopkinsville features the following players: Claire Chewning, Suzie Comperry, Evelyn Cotthoff, Emily Davis, Maddie Meacham, Olivia Oakley, Sarah Peebles, Margaret Rinehart, Julia Thomas, Lainey Walker.
Lexington United Short Season Program scheduled: Lexington United will conduct tryouts for its short season on Tuesday, March 24.
Practices for the Lexington United Short Season Program are slated for April 7-May 24.
The short season program is a two-month introduction to club volleyball with two practices a week led by experienced Lexington United coaches along with two competitive tournaments. It is a program which is particularly beneficial for players with a winter school season or players from other sports who want the chance to also play club volleyball.
The program is for players in fourth-eighth grades.
Topley named Frederick Douglass head coach: Katie Topley has been named the new head coach of the Frederick Douglass High School volleyball team. Topley has played and coached volleyball for 12 years. She has coached on a national level with Lexington United. Previously, Topley was an assistant coach at Tates Creek High School. She served as the head coach at Hayes Middle School in Lexington.
Palmer headed to Centre College: Currently competing for Lexington United, Brooke Palmer has committed to Centre College. Palmer wrapped up her prep career at Tates Creek High School in the fall.
Stotz commits to Transylvania University: Paul Laurence Dunbar student-athlete Olivia Stotz, who is currently competing for Lexington United in the 2020 club season, has committed to Transylvania University.
Warrens signs with University of Pikeville: Senior defensive specialist Kiara Warrens, who led Floyd Central to its first 15th Region championship in 2019, has signed with the University of Pikeville. Currently, Warrens is competing for her club team, East Kentucky Volleyball Academy (EKVA).
Leslie County to host 6th Annual Dig for a Cure Volleyball Camp: Leslie County will host the 6th Annual Dig for a Cure Volleyball Camp at the Richard M. Nixon Center in Hyden on Saturday, April 18.
The camp is for players in grades K-8.
The camp schedule is as follows: K-4 – 10 a.m.-noon; 5-8 – 1-5 p.m.
The cost is $20 for the camp or $35 for the camp and a T-shirt.
All money raised from the camp will go to Relay For Life.
