The Class of 2022 features several standout defensive specialists that hail from Louisville.
Here are five Louisville sophomore defensive specialists to watch.
Kayelin Aikens: A 5-7 sophomore defensive specialist, Aikens is a student-athlete from Christian Academy-Louisville. A proven playmaker, Aikens has demonstrated the ability to run an offense in addition to delivering defensively as a solid blocker. Aikens is competing for Union Asics 16-2.
Ally Brown: A 5-6 sophomore defensive specialist, Brown is a student-athlete from defending state champion Assumption High School. Looking to contribute for her prep team during the 2020 high school volleyball season later in the year, Brown consistently builds up offensive scoring opportunities, moving well while reading the blocking and attacking angles efficiently. Brown is competing for KIVA 16-1.
Addison Poehner: A 5-5 sophomore defensive specialist, Poehner is a student-athlete from reigning state runner-up Mercy Academy. Showing the ability to produce on both the back and front lines, Poehner blocks, serves and plays defense well. Poehner is competing for Union Asics 16-1.
Makenna Whitehead: A 5-7 sophomore defensive specialist, Whitehead is a student-athlete from Male High School. Looking to work her way into more varsity playing time during the high school season later in the year, Whitehead has shown the ability to set the tone during matches while being a strong passer.
Brenna Wyman: A 5-9 sophomore defensive specialist, Wyman is a student-athlete from back-to-back-to-back state champion Assumption High School. Looking to build momentum prior to the start of the 2020 high school volleyball season, Wyman communicates well and can set in various positions. Wyman is competing for Union Asics 16-1.
