Here are five 5th Region setters to watch.
Allie Blair: A junior setter/opposite, Blair is a student-athlete from Central Hardin High School. Among the leaders for Central Hardin in 2019, Blair posted a team-best 622 assists in addition to 174 digs. Blair was instrumental as Central Hardin finished runner-up in both the 17th District and 5th Region. A solid communicator that is versatile and can produce as a hitter, Blair is aggressive while being a precise passer.
Katie Floyd: A sophomore setter/defensive specialist, Floyd is a student-athlete from Taylor County High School. Floyd excelled throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, logging 1,010 assists and 361 digs. The productive Floyd, who is both visually and verbally communicative, provides offensively and defensively. With elite volleyball intelligence, Floyd possesses leadership qualities and is an excellent digger.
Carol Hellard: A junior setter, Hellard is a student-athlete from Thomas Nelson High School. Hellard was a catalyst as Thomas Nelson captured the 2019 19th District volleyball title, delivering 719 assists, 310 digs and 63 kills in 32 matches. Able to cover well, Hellard regularly sets efficiently in various situations and uses her speed to be in solid position.
Macie Sandidge: A sophomore setter, Sandidge is a student-athlete from LaRue County High School. A proven leader for her high school team, Sandidge recorded a team-high 695 assists in 30 matches in 2019. Sandidge helped LaRue County finish as the 18th District runner-up and make an appearance in the 5th Region Volleyball Tournament Semifinals. Athletic and one of the top young volleyball players in the 5th Region, Sandidge keeps both blocking responsibilities and setter duties under control while excelling as a passer.
Tori Thomas: A junior setter, Thomas is a student-athlete from Marion County High School. Thomas helped to pace 20th District runner-up and 5th Region Semifinalist Marion County in 2019, registering 999 assists, 197 digs and 40 service aces in 38 matches. Quick and agile, Thomas routinely makes smart decisions and is communicative. Thomas is a superb passer with swift footwork.
