Here are five underrated 6th Region juniors-to-be.
Kelsey Harper: A sophomore middle blocker, Harper is a student-athlete from Mercy Academy. Harper contributed in 10 matches for 6th Region champion Mercy Academy during the 2019 high school volleyball season, which ended with a runner-up finish to Assumption in the state tournament. As a sophomore, Harper showed the ability to produce in various categories. An athletic middle blocker, Harper moves along the net well and is an exceptional blocker.
Kendyll Holmes: A sophomore outside hitter/opposite, Holmes is a student-athlete from North Bullitt High School. Earlier in the year, during the 2020 club volleyball season, Holmes competed for Union Asics 16-2 and showed improvement. Along with playing outside hitter and opposite, Holmes contributed as a setter for North Bullitt in 2019. Productive with the ability to hit consistently from either side, Holmes covers other hitters well and is an accurate passer.
Haley Horn: A sophomore middle blocker, Horn is a student-athlete from Beth Haven High School. Horn was among the key players for Beth Haven throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season. Productive at the net while developing into a strong blocker and passer, Horn reads setters well and makes fast, precise movements.
Lasanda Iriarte: A sophomore defensive specialist, Iriarte is a student-athlete from Doss High School. Iriarte will be among the experienced players back for Doss in the 2020 high school volleyball season. A strong passer who has proven to be a solid communicator, Iriarte is an athletic defensive specialist. Iriarte, who made strides during the 2019 prep season, reads blocks well.
Chloe Newton: A sophomore outside hitter/opposite, Newton is another student-athlete from Mercy Academy. Newton is poised to push for additional playing time in the 2020 high school volleyball season. Efficient as a hitter from either side and a versatile player, Newton has demonstrated that she can help run the offense when the setter digs the ball first.
