Here are five versatile 12th Region juniors-to-be.
Sydney Collins: A sophomore defensive specialist/libero, Collins is a student-athlete from West Jessamine High School. Collins, who helped to lead West Jessamine to a 12th Region championship in 2019, thrived defensively but also contributed offensively. In 39 matches during the 2019 prep season, Collins recorded 329 digs and 57 service aces. A proven leader, Collins is consistent, tenacious, communicates well and has developed into an excellent server. Athletic, Collins moves extremely well.
Allie Lane: A libero/right side hitter, Lane is a student-athlete from East Jessamine High School. Lane showed consistency in the first part of her prep career. Regardless of where she lines up, Lane has proven to be an accurate passer and demonstrated solid digging abilities and ballhandling skills. Consistent, Lane elevates well and is a strong hitter from the right side.
Emily Krintz: A sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist, Krintz is another student-athlete from West Jessamine High School. Krintz was a leader for West Jessamine during its 12th Region title run in 2019, compiling 272 kills, 116 assists, 398 digs and 73 service aces. The productive Krintz led West Jessamine in kills and service aces. Krintz is a stellar passer but excels in multiple categories. Up front, Krintz is dominant near the net and excels as a hard hitter.
Tori Smith: A sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist, Smith is a student-athlete from Somerset High School. Smith was among the leaders for Somerset throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, appearing in all 28 of the Briar Jumpers’ matches. Smith, who ranked second in digs for her prep team in 2019, is an accurate passer who also delivers blocks regularly. Agile, Smith covers other hitters when a ball is blocked and comes back over the net routinely.
Trinity Wells: A sophomore outside hitter/middle blocker/opposite, Wells is a student-athlete from Boyle County High School. Wells is one of the most versatile rising junior volleyball players in the state. Contributing from multiple positions throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, Wells fared well offensively and defensively. Wells is able to hit consistently from either side and excels as a blocker. Providing a strong presence in the middle, Wells shows athleticism as she moves back and forth along the net.
