But help is on the way.
Here are four 15th Region players on the rise.
Chloe Fields: A 5-7 sophomore outside hitter, Fields is a student-athlete from Martin County High School. Fields chipped in for Martin County during the 2019 high school volleyball season and is expected to take on a larger role for her prep team during the upcoming campaign. An athletic outside hitter, Fields helped Martin County show improvement in 2019. Individually, Fields thrives as a hitter in both the front and back row and reads opposing defenses accurately.
Emily Johnson: A freshman outside hitter/right side hitter/defensive specialist, Johnson is a student-athlete from Betsy Layne High School. As a freshman during the 2019 prep volleyball season, Johnson contributed from multiple positions, appearing in nearly all of Betsy Layne’s matches. One of the most versatile young volleyball players in the 15th Region, Johnson hits consistently from both sides and has shown the ability to dig for quick attacks.
Emily Lester: A sophomore defensive specialist/libero, Lester is a student-athlete from East Ridge High School. Emerging as a consistent defensive player, Lester appeared in 23 of East Ridge’s 30 matches during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Poised for more playing time during the 2020 prep season, Lester is communicative, digs and pursues well and can produce as a back row hitter.
Whitney Moore: A sophomore outside hitter/middle hitter, Moore is a student-athlete from Lawrence County High School. Moore competed for Bluegrass Volleyball Academy of Eastern Kentucky earlier in the year during the 2020 club season. Making an impact for Lawrence County during her sophomore season, Moore appeared in 20-plus of Lawrence County’s 33 matches. Moore elevates well, works well in tandem when blocking efficiently and is a solid passer.
