A highly-anticipated 2020 high school volleyball season is looming for hundreds of female student-athletes throughout Louisville and its surrounding areas.
Here are four Louisville area freshman-to-be opposite hitters to watch.
Camila Adams: A 5-8 opposite hitter/defensive specialist, Adams is a student-athlete from St. John Paul II School. An athletic opposite, Adams moves well and is a solid hitter from the right side. Poised to carry momentum into high school later in the year, Adams has shown great ball handling skills during her young volleyball career. Showing her versatility, Adams is able to contribute as a defensive specialist and produces regardless of the position. Adams is competing for Union Asics 14-1.
Julianna Howell: A 5-8 opposite hitter/outside hitter, Howell is an eighth-grader from Sacred Heart Model. Able to hit from either side, Howell is a talented young volleyball player who can pass and set consistently. Howell’s skill set allows her to contribute from multiple positions and various places on the floor. All of that leads to Howell being a key player. Howell is competing for KIVA 14 White.
Caroline Massey: A 5-5 opposite hitter, Massey is an eighth-grader from East Oldham Middle School. Younger than many of her teammates, Massey has emerged as a consistent player. Efficient as a hitter and passer, Massey manages to block well while contributing in several different categories. Massey is competing for Union Asics 13-1.
Makenzie Wagner: A 5-7 opposite hitter/setter, Wagner is an eighth grader from Saint Mary Academy. Wagner is among the most underrated Kentucky volleyball players in the Class of 2024. The diverse Wagner is productive as both an opposite and a setter, executing in many different situations. As an opposite hitter, Wagner is stellar on serve receive defense in addition to being a solid blocker. Wagner is competing for Union Asics 14-1.
