As the senior class of 2020 will be graduating, Coaches are looking to the future for possible newcomers to fill the empty holes on the roster. Below are 4 Northern Kentucky Middles in the hunt!
Emma Manser (Campbell County): As Campbell County graduates 3 year-Varsity starter Kasey Martin, the camels are in need of an athlete who is not afraid to follow her predecessor. Manser, an incoming Freshman, stands at 6’0. She was a member of the Freshman and Junior Varsity teams as an 8th Grader, during the 2019 season, and was pulled up to Varsity during post season. She plays a very vocal and aggressive game. Her length, potential, and attitude may earn her a starting varsity role. Manser is currently competing for NKYVC 14 Typhoon.
Sydney Nolan (Notre Dame Academy): Nolan stands at an impressive 6’2, however, her height is not the only quality that sets her apart from other middles competing to start for the Pandas. Nolan plays at a high level with immense energy and at a truly quick pace. As a freshman last year, she started on the Junior Varsity Team and was a member of the Varsity Roster. Nolan competed in 20 sets for NDA’s Varsity and attacked at a 43% clip. Currently, she is competing for NKYVC 15 Tsunami.
Kayla Dunican (Ryle High School) : Dunican is a returning varsity right-side attacker for the Raiders. However, as Emily Knecht graduates, Dunican has the opportunity to transition in to the middle position for her senior campaign. Dunican is a defensive brute and earned the second most total blocks for the raiders in the 2019 season as a right-side. Her natural strength and court presence make her a strong candidate to take over the middle next season. Dunican is competing for NKYVC 17 Tide currently.
Lauren Buemi (Highland Heights): Similar to Dunican, Buemi competed as a varsity member on the right-side for the Bluebirds this 2019 season. As Highlands graduates senior middle Ava Hockney, there is an opening for Buemi. She is a quick and versatile blocker at only 5’10. Her ability to attack at any set along the net would allow her to create a strong offensive presence. Currently, Buemi is competing for NKJV 16 Blue.
