Below is a roster of Kentucky 17s who may just top that list! This list is constructed on the base of one-position for each athlete and includes possible alternates at the bottom.
Outside and Right-side Attackers
Emma Shadwick Emma Shadwick OH Henry Clay | 2021 State KY : 6’1, Henry Clay High School, Lex United 17 Adidas – Committed to Yale University: Emma, the first Shadwick sister to appear on this list, is a strong fundamental volleyball player who excels and leads on the court. She has been a reliant threat through her years at Henry Clay and has been an offensive leader over her career.
Abby Shadwick Abby Shadwick OH Henry Clay | 2021 State KY : 6’1, Henry Clay, Lex United 17 Adidas – Committed to Colgate University: Abby Shadwick Abby Shadwick OH Henry Clay | 2021 State KY , the second Shadwick sister on the list, is equally as impressive. Abby brings a different style of play than her sister, but an an equally high-level. Her training as a middle attacker make her the perfect pin addition. The Shadwick girls bring heart, energy, and perseverance to the roster.
Katie Howard Katie Howard OH Greenwood | 2021 State KY : 5’10, Greenwood High School, SKEVA 17 Blue – Committed to Western Kentucky University: Howard is a very impressive 6 rotation OH from Greenwood. She led her team in kills in 2019 with 394. Her arm swing is truly impressive and one of the quickest in the state. She leads her team in a passionate style of play.
Cate Scheper: 6’1, Notre Dame Academy, NKYVC 17 Tsunami – Uncommitted: Scheper is a player who has flown under the radar prior to her 2020 club season at NKYVC. With a reach at 9’8 and an agile swing there isn’t a defense she cannot score against. Scheper also has training as a middle, which has allowed her to run the pin positions with tremendous speed.
Middle Blockers
Sequoia Hunt Sequoia Hunt MB Oldham County | 2021 State KY : 5’11, Oldham County, KIVA ASICS Red – Committed to Northern Kentucky University: Hunt is small for the middle position, but what she lacks in length she makes up for in hang time and her vertical. Jumping out of the gym is not just a figure of speech when talking about Sequoia. Hunt is a consistent leader for Oldham County.
Lauren Reynolds Lauren Reynolds MB Frederick Douglass | 2021 State KY : 6’2, Fredrick Douglas, Lex United 17 Black – Uncommitted: Reynolds is a talented middle who is undervalued in Kentucky Volleyball. She led the Broncos in kills in 2019 and attacked at an aggressive 33%. Reynolds also led the team in blocks with 71.
Setters
Lexie Deaton Lexie Deaton S Tates Creek | 2021 State KY : 5’11, Tates Creek, Lex United 17 Adidas – Uncommitted: Deaton earned an unreal 1097 assists in her 2019 season. All while earning 103 kills, 57 blocks, and 167 digs. Deaton has been a varsity starter for 2 years and has been a member of the varsity roster since her 8th grade year. Deaton is able to be an offensive option as well.
Lane Jenkins Lane Jenkins S Lafayette | 2021 State KY : 5’10, Lafayette, KIVA 17 Red – Uncommitted: At 5’10 with an athletic vertical, Jenkins is a 6-rotation threat who can lead from the front and back court. Jenkins was the starting setter for Lafayette in 2019.
DS/Liberos
Marie Kiefer Marie Kiefer MB Bishop Brossart | 2021 State KY : 5’6, Assumption, KIVA 17 Red – Committed to Virginia Commonwealth University: This VCU commit is everything you love to see in a small Libero. She moves quick and low to the floor. Her serve recieve is equally as impressive; Hoffmeier has the strong ability to pass with control on balls outside of her body. Hoffmeir didn’t see a lot of playing time the Raiders in 2019, but she performed strongly when she did reach the court.
Regan Hackenberry: 5’5, Tates Creek, Lex United 17 Adidas – Uncommitted: As a defensive specialist for Tates Creek in 2019, Hackenberry rarely let a ball hit the floor. She protected the middle of the court against tips and block touches with extreme ease. Hustle is Hackenberry’s defining and most memorable skill. Q

Outside/Right-side
Kaitlin Luebbers: 5’11, Cooper High School, NKYVC 17 Tide – Uncommitted: If you were to look up versatile in the dictionary there may just be a picture of Luebbers. She is able to swing, set, and defend with the best. Her ability to play multiple positions at a high-level is what earned her a role on this roster.
Middle Blocker
Olivia Crowl Olivia Crowl MB Campbell County | 2021 State KY : 6’2, Campbell County, NKYVC 17 Tide – Uncommitted: Crowl is the reigning 10th Region Player of the Year and was named to Second Team All-State. She led the Camels in kills (341) , blocks (144), and points earned in 2019. Crowl has been a Varsity stater since her freshman year.
Setter
Alyssa Eaton Alyssa Eaton S Assumption | 2021 State KY : 5’8, Assumption, KIVA 17 White – Uncommitted: Eaton is not just another assumption player on the list; she is a quick and strong setter who can compete with the best. Her right-back defense is strong and allows for a smooth out-of-system offense.

Emily Wichmann Emily Wichmann DS/L Notre Dame | 2021 State KY : 5’2, Notre Dame Academy, TSE 17 Blue – Committed to Oakland University: Wichmann led the 2019 Pandas in the back court with 356 digs and 382 receptions. She was a driving force in their 2019 State Tournament run.
