Regions, counties and cities can dictate not only style of play but type of player. Never is that more true than this particular class in this particular area. Here are five of our favorite players from the class of 2023 that go to school in Marion County/Indianapolis.
Mallory Dills Mallory Dills 5'9" | S Cathedral | 2023 State IN , 5-9, S, Munciana 15 Quora (15-1), Cathedral High School
Mallory has gone through the entirety of the Cathedral pipeline, and it’s paying off by being the quarterback of the best 15s team in the state. Her ability to get to every ball, then distribute in proper location and tempo makes her indispensable at the next level. It’s important to know that we think high enough of Mallory to put her in the top ten of all players in the ’23 class. It won’t be long before she’s committed somewhere.
Sydney Robinson Sydney Robinson 5'8" | OH Brebeuf | 2023 State IN , 5-8, OH, Munciana 15 Quora (15-1), Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School
Fast, athletic and terminal. Standard fare for a pin hitter from Brebeuf. Quick athleticism helps her beat the kids that are bigger than her and her high attack touch helps her get over players that are the same size as her. Do not, under any circumstance, underestimate this young lady; she scores at will and is relentless about it.
Naija Gadis Naija Gadis 5'8" | S Brebeuf | 2023 State #196 Nation IN , 5-8, S/DS, Team Indiana Elite 16 (16-1), Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School
Naija is doubly listed as a DS because, well, she can. Most setters in Indiana don’t (or can’t) play defense. Naija’s ball control with either her hands or her platform have obviously convinced the folks over at TI to have her play up a year. She’s already shown off her skills at Triple Crown and won a few high-profile matches in the Mideast Power League. She’s playing at a high level in high school and club, which leads us to believe she’ll be more than capable of doing so at the next level.
Delaney Seaman Delaney Seaman 5'8" | S Brebeuf | 2023 State IN , 5-8, S, Munciana 15 Quora (15-1), Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School
Brebeuf’s future looks bright, indeed. What makes Delaney a more interesting find is that she’s the third high-level setter IN HER OWN FAMILY. Amber Seaman is a setter at Ball State, while Morgan Seaman sets at Miami (OH) University. Not too shabby of a bloodline, and her abilities reflect that.
Danielle Newport Danielle Newport 5'9" | OH Covenant Christian | 2023 State IN , 5-9, OH, Circle City 15 Black (15-2), Covenant Christian High School
An unassuming thumper. A high-rising sweetheart. Whatever you see her as, she’s a contradiction. Kids with this high of character from this part of the country aren’t normally relentless gym rats. A great kid with a competitive fire that cannot be quenched. She even gives a little help to her sister on Circle’s twitter feed to work out in her driveway during these unprecedented times. Her current attack touch is listed as 9-5, which is surprising to me, since she plays so much higher than that. I’m looking forward to seeing her in action again once we get back to playing. Believe me, Danielle’s already ahead of the game in the preparation department.
