Here are six 5th Region players on the rise.
Brianna Davis: A freshman outside hitter/middle hitter, Davis a student-athlete from John Hardin High School. Davis contributed for John Hardin throughout her freshman season in 2019. Poised for a breakthrough season as a sophomore, Davis is a strong finisher at the net. Davis reads opposing hitters effectively and possesses athleticism.
Briante Gowdy: A sophomore middle hitter, Gowdy is a student-athlete from Campbellsville High School. Chipping in for Campbellsville during the 2019 prep volleyball season, Gowdy registered 43 kills and 31 blocks in 62 sets. Gowdy covers a large portion of the net and blocks well both individually and in tandem.
Maddie Livingston: A freshman outside hitter, Livingston is a student-athlete from Thomas Nelson High School. Livingston turned in a solid freshman campaign, compiling 174 kills, 117 digs and 33 service aces in 31 matches. Among the top freshmen in the 5th Region, Livingston boasts solid jumping ability and adjusts well to sets coming from any location.
Lilly Padgett: A sophomore opposite hitter/outside hitter, Padgett is a student-athlete from Central Hardin High School. Padgett chipped in for 30-match winner Central Hardin throughout 2019, posting 88 kills, 38 blocks and 46 digs in 30 matches. Agile, Padgett can produce as a hitter from either side and is an aggressive blocker.
Makayla Phillips: A sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist, Phillips is a student-athlete from LaRue County High School. A reliable young player, Phillips played in all 30 matches for LaRue County in 2019, registering 112 kills, 75 digs and 63 service aces. Phillips, who is versatile and has shown leadership skills, excels hitting and digging.
Natalie Shaw: A sophomore defensive specialist, Shaw is an student-athlete from Elizabethtown High School. Shaw appeared in 36 of 39 matches for 5th Region champion Elizabethtown during the 2019 high school volleyball season, recording 66 service aces and 61 digs. Quick, Shaw digs and pursues regularly while being a productive back row hitter.
