Here are five 14th Region sophomores on the rise.
Destiny Feltner: A setter, Feltner is a student-athlete from Perry County Central High School. Feltner played in 19 of Perry County Central’s 31 matches during the 2019 high school volleyball season, showing potential during the campaign. An accurate passer, Feltner is a vocal leader who runs offenses efficiently.
Kaylea Ritchie: An outside hitter, Ritchie is a student-athlete from Breathitt County High School. Ritchie contributed for 2019 14th Region champion Breathitt County as a freshman and is expected to take on a larger role during her sophomore season. Athletic, Ritchie is a stout hitter from the left side who has shown the ability to pass and set successfully.
Adeline Turner: Another versatile volleyball player, Turner is a student-athlete from Jackson City High School. Turner played in all 26 of Jackson City’s matches during the 2019 high school volleyball season, logging 41 digs, 97 digs and 21 service aces. Able to contribute from multiple positions, Turner is athletic, hits consistently and makes challenging digs routinely.
Devonna Watts: A right side/defensive specialist, Watts is a student-athlete from Lee County High School. Watts played in 30 of Lee County’s 35 matches during the 2019 high school volleyball season, posting 63 digs and 43 service aces. Boasting a diverse skill set, Watts hits aggressively from the right side and can deliver as a back row hitter.
Grace Whisman: A setter/defensive specialist, Whisman is a student-athlete from Wolfe County High School. Productive as a freshman, Whisman appeared in 25 of Wolfe County’s 34 matches, recording 84 assists and 21 digs. Versatile, Whisman is communicative, identifies blockers well and has shown the ability to play in both the back row and the front row,
