Several middles are carrying momentum over into the 2020 high school volleyball season.
Here are five 3rd Region senior middles to watch.
Jasmine Beasley: Consistent, Beasley was among the leaders for Daviess County during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Beasley registered 129 kills, 66 blocks, 35 digs and 20 service aces for the Panthers in 2019. Athletic, Beasley makes solid lateral movements and finishes strong both offensively and defensively.
Madeline Castlen: A longtime leader, Castlen helped to pace 3rd Region champion Owensboro Catholic throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season. Castlen recorded 220 kills, 88 blocks, 29 digs and 30 service aces for the Aces in 2019. A strong hitter, Castlen possesses exceptional jumping power.
Lainey Hayden: Owensboro’s leader in blocks during the 2019 high school volleyball season, Hayden is a proven performer. As a junior, Hayden posted 156 kills, 91 blocks and 36 digs in 24 matches for the Red Devils. Observant and communicative, Hayden reads the moves of opponents’ attacks well.
Brylee Rhodes: A dominant player at the net, Rhodes excels for Apollo. During the 2019 high school volleyball season, Rhodes posted 169 kills, 130 blocks, 73 digs and 37 service aces for the E-gals. With Rhodes among the leaders, Apollo reached the 2019 3rd Region Volleyball Tournament Semifinals. Rhodes executes plays smoothly and uses her versatility to contribute in multiple areas.
Ella Robinson: A versatile performer for Grayson County, Robinson is a middle hitter/outside hitter. One of the most underrated high school volleyball players in the state, Robinson registered 383 kills, 52 blocks, 135 digs and 42 service aces for the Cougars during her junior campaign. The productive Robinson uses both hands well and works in tandem with setters efficiently.
