Numerous much-improved Class of 2022 players are expected to make larger impacts during the 2020 high school volleyball season.
Here are five 5th Region sophomores on the rise.
Raegan Abell: A defensive specialist, Abell played in 33 of 35 matches for Washington County during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Abell registered 269 digs, 37 assists and 29 service aces in 85 sets for the Commanderettes. A strong back row hitter, Abell digs and pursues well.
Sarah Clark: One of the most versatile sophomores volleyball players in the state, Clark is a setter/middle blocker/opposite for reigning 5th Region champion Elizabethtown. As a freshman during the 2019 season, Clark registered 58 kills, 94 blocks, 272 assists and 38 digs in 35 matches. Clark is an accurate passer and a vocal leader.
Beth Jones: Another versatile performer, Jones contributed for Hart County throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season. As a freshman in 2019, Jones recorded 30 kills and 79 digs in 23 matches. Reliable and a consistent hitter, Jones has shown the ability to produce from various parts of the court.
Faith Ramos: Productive at the net, Ramos ranked second in kills for North Hardin as a freshman during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Ramos hits and blocks consistently. Successful when completing attack hits, Ramos possesses solid jumping ability and can hit from the front and back rows routinely.
Torie Sparks: After leading Bethlehem in digs as a freshman, Sparks is poised to carry momentum over into her sophomore season. In addition to leading the Eagles in assists, Sparks produced at the net. Sparks pushed for the Bethlehem team lead in kills. With a balanced skillset and the ability to dig for quick attacks regularly, Sparks is a steady contributor.
