Here are five South Oldham freshmen to watch.
Emma Closurdo: An outside hitter, Closurdo competed for Union Asics 14-1 earlier in the year. Closurdo possesses solid jumping ability, displaying it throughout her recent club and middle school seasons. Agile and intelligent, Closurdo reads opposing defenses efficiently and has thrived as a passer.
Chloe John: An outside hitter/setter, John competed for Union Regional 14 White earlier in the year. John is a consistent hitter with a diverse skillset who has shown the ability to elevate at the net. Productive, John is a stellar passer and runs offenses well.
Victoria Kasser: Another outside hitter, Kasser competed for Union Asics 14-1 earlier in the year. Kasser is a stellar hitter from the left side. Athletic and among one of the 8th Region’s most underrated young volleyball players, Kasser is a proven blocker who will carry momentum over into her freshman season.
Kaitlyn McCurdy: A defensive specialist, McCurdy competed for Union Regional 14 earlier in the year. McCurdy is a defensive standout who delivers in multiple positive categories. McCurdy is a stout back row hitter who digs and pursues regularly.
Natalie Smythe: An outside hitter/defensive specialist, Smythe competed for Union Travel 14 Black earlier in the year. Smythe has excelled both offensively and defensively in recent seasons. Versatile, Smythe has produced as a hitter from the back and front rows. Smythe has displayed the ability to call out hitters and adjust to various sets.
