A look at five versatile 8th Region senior hitters follows.
Jordan Atchison: An outside hitter/opposite, Atchison is a student-athlete from reigning 8th Region champion North Oldham. Atchison was a key player for North Oldham in 2019, posting 90 kills, 206 digs and 29 service aces as the Mustangs captured the 8th Region championship. Versatile, Atchison is a productive hitter from either side. Atchison digs for quick attacks routinely and leads regularly.
Cassidy Goss: An outside hitter/middle hitter, Goss is a student-athlete from Spencer County. Goss thrived throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, logging 155 kills. Instrumental as Spencer County advanced to the 2019 8th Region Volleyball Tournament, Goss showed leadership during her junior campaign. Stout at the net and a strong hitter from the left side, Goss is a consistent blocker as well.
Samantha Kasser: An outside hitter/opposite, Kasser is a student-athlete from South Oldham. Kasser contributed for South Oldham during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Poised to take on a larger role for South Oldham during the 2020 prep volleyball season, Kasser has shown the ability to hit from the front and back rows. Kasser can deliver both offensively and defensively.
Piper McCoun: A outside hitter/middle hitter, McCoun is a student-athlete from Woodford County. One of the most underrated high school volleyball players in the state, McCoun led Woodford County during the 2019 high school volleyball season, registering 402 kills, 35 blocks, 240 digs and 46 service aces in 41 matches. McCoun is a go-to hitter and a potent server who is set to excel as a senior in the 2020 season.
Ella Murray: A middle hitter/right side, Murray is a student-athlete from Simon Kenton. Murray helped to pace Simon Kenton throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, recording 183 kills, 39 blocks and 44 digs in 26 matches. A prep volleyball player who works well with teammates on blocks and excels hitting from the right side, Murray possesses solid jumping abilities.
