As squads are preparing for the 2020 high school volleyball season, multiple experienced right side hitters are making preparations to return to the court.
Here are five 3rd Region right side hitters to watch.
Avery Barnett: After contributing for Whitesville Trinity as a freshman in 2019, Barnett is headed into her sophomore campaign. Barnett helped to pace Trinity Whitesville during the 2019 high school volleyball season, logging 58 kills, 73 assists, 46 digs and 41 service aces in 28 matches. Reliable, Barnett is a solid passer and server.
Sophy Fields: Set to enter her senior season, Fields is among the most consistent players for Muhlenberg County. As a junior during the 2019 high school volleyball season, Fields posted 51 kills, 29 blocks, 222 assists, 120 digs and 22 service aces in 31 matches. Fields is an excellent passer who has shown the ability to dig for quick attacks.
Allie Hamilton: Headed into her senior campaign, Hamilton was among the key players as Owensboro Catholic captured the 2019 3rd Region volleyball championship, appearing in 36 of the title winning team’s 38 matches. Producing throughout her junior campaign, Hamilton recorded 75 kills, 34 blocks, 27 assists, 35 digs and 19 service aces. Hamilton has displayed that she can connect at the net and block well.
Taylor Ray: A right side hitter/outside hitter, Ray is a student-athlete from Meade County. Ray is preparing for her junior season. As a sophomore in the 2019 high school volleyball season, Ray recorded 177 kills, 26 assists, 199 digs and 35 assists. Ray, a player who is versatile and able to hit from either side, works well with middle hitters.
Brooklyn Williams: Excelling for Owensboro early in her prep volleyball career, Williams delivered as a freshman during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Williams posted 129 kills, 29 blocks and 46 digs for Owensboro during her freshman campaign in 2019. Agile, Williams has the versatility to flourish both offensively and defensively.
