Here are three 4th Region volleyball teams on the rise.
Clinton County: After reaching the 4th Region Volleyball Tournament Semifinals in back-to-back seasons, Clinton County returns most of its players from 2019. Following a loss to South Warren in the 2019 4th Region Volleyball Tournament, Clinton County ended the 2019 season 26-8. Senior Kayli Hadley is among the players headed back for Clinton County. Hadley recorded nearly 400 kills in 34 matches for Clinton County during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Junior Katie Thurman (posted over 235 digs in 2019) and senior Autumn McCutchen (336 digs in 2019) return as well. One of the top volleyball teams in the 4th Region, Clinton County has captured back-to-back-to-back 16th District championships.
Metcalfe County: Showing much improvement during the 2019 high school volleyball season, Metcalfe County finished its latest campaign 14-13. Metcalfe County moved above the .500 mark after ending the 2018 high school volleyball season 8-20. In 2019, Metcalfe County pushed Russell County prior to falling in the 16th District Volleyball Tournament Semifinals. Headed into her senior season, Kaylee Bennett is a leader for 16th Region member Metcalfe County. Bennett logged a team-high 112 assists for Metcalfe County in 2019.
Todd County Central: Faring much better during the 2019 high school volleyball season, Todd County Central finished 14-20. That’s 10 more wins than its 4-17 run in 2018. Todd County Central is preparing to welcome back several key players from the 2019 season. Sophomore Lucy Chester (379 kills, 91 digs, 67 service aces) along with juniors Presley Conquest (147 kills, 97 digs, 55 service aces) and Merideth Drummond (337 digs, 28 service aces) are poised to return for the Rebels. Todd County Central finished runner-up to Logan County in the 2019 13th District Volleyball Tournament. The Rebels’ 2019 season ended with a loss to Clinton County in the opening round of the 4th Region Volleyball Tournament at Glasgow High School.
