However, we are at this point; Win or Go Home! Let’s take a look at two districts and do our best to predict who will move on in each round and become district champions. The winner of these two districts will face off in sectional play this weekend.
District 10: (1) Sarcoxie (2) Pierce City (3) Purdy (4) Diamond (5) Southwest (Washburn) – October 26th-27th @ Diamond
District play is set to get going on the 26th at Diamond High School. Your top seed Sarcoxie enters with an 18-10 record on the season. Senior Kyann Ogle has been good in her final season. Brooklyn Carr, a junior defensive standout has shined in the back row. Pierce City (15-11-1) will be the second seed. They have been able to get a lot of quality matches under their belts this fall. They are 8-1-1 in their last ten and have momentum heading into districts. They defeated 3rd seed Purdy earlier this season and lost to top seed Sarcoxie. The Purdy Eagles (9-16-3) come into post-season sputtering, losing five straight matches and ten of the last eleven. Diamond (5-21) and Southwest (6-21) will play for the right to face Sarcoxie later in the evening.
Sarcoxie will take care of the winner of the 4 vs. 5 match-up. We like Pierce City to beat a struggling Purdy team in the other semi-final. Sarcoxie over Pierce City again for the championship.
District 12: (1) Skyline (2) Stockton (3) Cole Camp (4) Stover (5) Windsor – October October 26th-27th @ Cole Camp
In this district some teams have played often, others not nearly as much. Skyline (24-2) is the team to beat in this bracket. Their only losses are to El Dorado Springs in tournament play. As a team, they have 860 kills on the season, led by senior Ella Dougherty’s 248. The Tigers of Stockton will be the second seed and sports a 9-12-4 record. Summer Kenney has just under 300 kills and 330 digs. Kylie Hunter is averaging just under 7 assists per set. The host team, Cole Camp (10-7) will be the third seed on the bracket and enter winners of three in a row. They have a balanced offensive attack and are getting good setter play from Destiny Kestner. Stover (9-9) have been steady this fall. They will depend on Katelyn Jackson to have a strong performance to get past Windsor. Windsor Greyhounds (4-8) is your final team in this district.
Stover over Windsor, Skyline over Stover. Kenney and her supporting cast will defeat Cole Camp in four. We expect Skyline to capture the championship and advance to the sectional round.
