Here is a scouting report from Lansing’s tournament play.
MH, Olivia Mae Van der Werff, 5’11”, – The Lansing junior finished with 396 kills in the regular season for the Lions. She also had 18 blocks in 2020. She has a big reach and a major wingspan. She hits the ball hard and still has another year of high school ball to improve her skills. Van der Werff had a huge match in the State Title game. She led the Lions with 13 kills in two blocks in the loss to St. Thomas Aquinas. She is a solid DII recruit and a fringe DI talent.
MH, Iyannah Jackson Iyannah Jackson 6'0" | MB Lansing | 2022 State KS , 6’1”, (’22 Ranked No. 15) – Jackson has a powerful swing. She is going to have a big-time impact at the next level. Jackson currently his being recruited by two DI schools and one DII program. She entered the state tournament having amassed 169 kills and 32 blocks. Jackson is a front-row player only. She had three kills and one block in the 5A title match.
L Kamryn Farris Kamryn Farris 5'10" | DS/L Lansing | 2022 State KS , 5’11”, (’22 Ranked No. 50) – Farris is tall for a libero, but she has great footwork and gets to hard-hit balls. She has a really nice serve and very well could be a DI college talent. She still has one more season and will strive to help Lansing return to the state tournament in 2021.
OH, Skylar Weaver, 5’8”, – Weaver is an athletic sophomore who Kansas teams will have to contend with moving forward. She had a solid match in Round Robin play against St. Thomas Aquinas. Weaver is not super tall, but she is an all-around player that would fit well into an NAIA or JUCO program down the road. She is a ball of fire and the obvious emotional leader for the Lions. Weaver had three kills in the final match of Lansing’s season.
